- Listed on the 1861 census as living in the household of William Hirons (his uncle on his mother's side) at the age of 13. Listed in the 1871 census as living in the household of John Hutton (mother's second husband) at age of 23 as a bartender.
- The “Windsor, Ontario” portion of William's birth as well as William's birth year being 1848 was provided by [3]. Also according to [3], William was naturalized as a U.S. citizen on 13 February 1890 (the papers for which says that he was from England and not Canada).
- After his wife Annie died in 1927, William moved to Almarode St., San Franscisco, with his son William and his family and died a few months later.
- William is buried in Section L, Row 87 Grave 30
