- In the mid 1840s Mary Jr. left home to be a servant in the household of two middle aged spinsters Sarah and Harriett Henworthy in Storecroft Terrace, Retford.
- After the death of her husband, John, Mary and her family then moved to Pelham Road and again to 45 Queen Street in the late 1890s.
