Notes

When Joseph immigrated to Canada (Toronto via Halifax) from England (via Liverpool), he was travelling with his sister Alice and her husband William Taylor. Note that Alice and William's ages in the ship's passenger list do not match up with those found in the census records.
According to [5], Joseph died of a brain tumour at age 42, but his death certificate says it was due to heart failure at the age of 43. His death registration was completed by his daughter, “Mrs. Clara M. Jinks”.
